The Martian is a 2015 American science-fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Drew Goddard. The film stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peñaand Kristen Wiig. It is scheduled to be released on November 25, 2015. The film is based on the 2012 novel The Martian by Andy Weir.
